The Coffee Regions We Source From — and Why It Matters

A world map highlighting coffee-growing regions including Latin America, East Africa, and Indonesia sourced by Light & Hope Coffee & Tea Co.

Origin Shapes Everything

Great coffee starts long before the roaster. It begins in the soil, the altitude, the rainfall, and the hands of the farmers who tend the crop. At Light & Hope, we source from four of the world's most celebrated coffee-growing regions — each one bringing something distinct to your cup.

Latin America

Flavor profile: Bright, balanced, caramel sweetness, mild acidity

Latin America is home to some of the world's most beloved coffee-growing countries — Colombia, Guatemala, Brazil, and beyond. The high-altitude farms and rich volcanic soils produce beans with a clean, approachable character that's perfect for everyday drinking. Our Latin American Blend captures this region's signature brightness and balance.

East Africa

Flavor profile: Fruity, wine-like, floral, complex

East Africa — particularly Ethiopia, Kenya, and Rwanda — produces some of the most distinctive and celebrated coffees in the world. The ancient coffee forests of Ethiopia are where the coffee plant originated, and the beans grown there still carry an extraordinary complexity. Our African Kahawa Blend and African Espresso showcase the region's signature fruit-forward, wine-like character.

Asia & the Pacific

Flavor profile: Earthy, full-bodied, low acidity, smooth

Indonesia, Vietnam, and the highlands of Asia produce coffees with a completely different personality — deep, earthy, and full-bodied with a smooth, low-acid finish. These are the coffees that feel grounding and rich, perfect for those who prefer a heavier cup. Our Asian Plateau Blend brings this character to life.

Indonesia

Flavor profile: Dark chocolate, cedar, herbal, syrupy body

Indonesia holds a special place in our sourcing story. The islands of Sumatra, Java, and Sulawesi produce some of the most unique coffees on earth — processed using traditional wet-hulling methods that give them their signature earthy depth and syrupy body. You'll find Indonesian influence woven throughout several of our blends.

Why This Matters to Us

We don't source from these regions by accident. We choose them because they produce exceptional coffee — and because the farming communities behind them deserve to be celebrated. Every bag you buy supports our mission in the Philippines and honors the craft of coffee farmers around the world.
